GARDEN VALLEY Post Office: Phone: 333-4828--4850 Marshall Rd.

Mail goes out of front box.(History) Garden Valley Post Office was established on Dec.16, 1852, with Thomas McConnell serving as the first postmaster (when stamped envelopes were first established). The town was often called Johnstown, but the U.S. Post Office Department decided to use the name Garden Valley because of the number of farms that had been established in this fertile vale. Located four miles south of Georgetown and ten miles north of Placerville, the post office at Garden Valley is in operation today  in spite of its opening and closing history. (Form 4243 for 5 digit zip code directory)

GEORGETOWN Post Office:  Phone: 333-4303 --3180 South Street, 
 8:00 --5:00 pm, On SAT: 10-12noon(Zip - 95634).  Unlike the opening and closing of the Garden Valley Post Office four miles to the south, the Georgetown Post Office opened prior to Oct. 17, 1851 and has remained open ever since.  On this date its first postmaster, William T. Gibbs, was confirmed by the Post Office Department in Washington D.C. Georgetown, which is located some 20 miles east of Auburn and 14 miles north of Placerville,  is said to be named after either George Ehrenhaft or George Phipps, both of whom settled here in 1849. The town, which was at the western end of an alternate immigration route and connected with the main route in the American River Canyon, burned down more than once. The town was moved to its present location, on higher ground, as a protection against fire.

COOL Post Office: Phone: 885-3839, 1020 Northside Drive,   Hours: 7am - 5 pm, M-F, Sat 7-11am, (Zip 95614)  behind at Chinese Restaurant,  First Post Office Founded in Oct. 1885.  Delivers 546  P.O. Boxes, 1240 street deliveries for a total of 1786 deliveries. 

PILOT HILL,  Phone: 823-6362, 4460 State Hwy 49, Samon Falls &  Hours: 8 am -12 and 12:30 to 4 M-F. (Zip 95664) Sat pick-up only 8:30 to 10:30 for packages and certified.  4mi east of Cool, 8 miles west of Lotus, Carrier  delivers 312 street deliveries & 235 P.O. Boxes for a total of 547.

KELSEY - The post office Zips in Kelsey are 95643 and 95667. Mail addressed to Kelsey now goes through the Placerville Post office. The Kelsey post office closed on--approximately 1995.

MOSQUITO - The post office Zip is 95667 in Mosquito the same as Placerville since the local post office closed there a number of years ago.
