GRAND
OPENING WAS HELD
February 5, 2001
New home
of Divide Community Services
This project required the colaboration of the El Doraqdo County,
Caqlifornia Conservation Corps, El Dorado Transit, and the Bureau of Land
Management. The construction costs were paid by a CDBG Federal Grant (Terry
Gherardi wrote the application for funding to the state of California Block
Grant Program)
| The ribbon
cutting ceremony was held
February 5 at 6:30 at the center, which is on the CCC camp property
on Highway 193 in Greenwood. There was a tour of the facility, refreshments,
acknowledgement of the people who planned the center, designed it,
and worked on its funding, development and the services. The
senior meals program will be held at the center (being moved from
the Methodist Church) and a transit route was announced which was
recently funded to serve the area--however community participation
is needed to ensure its success. The building will
be available to the public for evening and weekend rental for a
reasonable fee, Call Celeste Cooney 621-6158.
