Garden Valley! |
 |
| Community Built through the spirit of
its residents, El Dorado County, CA |
Garden Valley is a scenic, rural community with a number of horse
aficionados, entrepreneurs, educators, and music lovers with great community
spirit.
Atually,
Garden Valley is an ideal horse community
as it is
centrally located (15-30 min) to ALL the area
public trail systems and there are many: Cronin Ranch (in Pilot Hill),
Meadowbrook (Garden Valley) Dru Barner & Balderson
(Georgetown)Olmstead Loop & Tevis Cup (Cool).
Town has
great horse properties. Located just above Coloma, on scenic Hwy 49, and about 22 minutes from Hwy 50 and 30 minutes to Hwy 80, it was founded in 1852. An old
stone store and the Grange Hall remain from the early days and are adjacent to Rose's Cafe
(a special place to eat home-cooked
lunches in Garden Valley). In years past the community was known for its
Gold and the famous Black Oak Mine but also for garden vegetables
sold to the
miners ( how it got its name). About 3,500 residents
call it home here, many of whom or either semi-retired, telecommute or who
travel down the hill into Sacramento, Auburn, or Placerville to real
jobs. With an elevation just below the snow line at 1,900 feet elevation,
it is filled with lots of trees, shrubs, pastures, streams, creeks, and trails. Its
residents also very much like to socialize, hike, ride, and enjoy good music, the
outdoors, and community events. To be sure, it is a great place to live,
raise children, or retire. Americana is always the theme for its July 4th Parade and other home town activities as
set out on this web site.
