In recent years, many individuals and organizations have made significant efforts to enhance the quality of life in our Sierra Nevada foothill communities. Among these, the Divide Garden Club is universally regarded as a leader in civic beautification and preservation of native flora. Those who come from more metropolitan areas will probably be surprised at the pivotal role of the Georgetown Divide Garden Club. in the daily life of these communities.

Another major focus of the Club has been to help its members meet the challenges of gardening in hot summers, dry shade, rocky soil and steep terrain, with substantial competition from wildlife. Wildfires are always of great concern in our area during the dry months, and therefore, the growing of fire retardant plants is stressed.
