Cool continued . .
Lake Tahoe and skiing
Sugar Bowl is only 1 hour away from Cool and 25 minutes further to Squaw
Valley and Alpine Meadows. You are also only 45 minutes on a scenic,
paved road to five (5) Fishing Lakes (French Meadows, Hell Hole, Loon
Lake, Union Valley Reservoir, and Ice House Reservoir). In same area
there are 3 horse camps with unlimited trails, including Loon Lake Horse
Camp, Tells Creek Horse Camp, and Dru Barner Horse Camp, with top
elevation at 5,000 feet. Yes, in
Cool, CA,
and ALT you can have it ALL!!
Cool and Pilot are getting close to the name Horse Town Twins USA,
like Norco, in Southern California, except they are much more Rural,
scenic, with large acreage all around. The horse population is
quite large and there are 3 horse clubs who have their "headquaters"
there. These communities are located just south on the road to Coloma and
Placerville along Highway 49 when you travel east out from Auburn
(Cool is 11 minutes from downtown Auburn). Instead of taking the
split to Georgetown (Hwy 193) at Cool, head on out towards Lotus and
Coloma on 49 and you'll drive right through Pilot Hill. Cool offers
great equestrian or family living. Award winning schools and low
crime. Here you can Escape from the city life as most of the land in
our area is zoned for acreage. Here the homes and residents are
focused on horses, horses, horses... (though there is a golf course
in Auburn Lake Trails.) Nature is everywhere in this Alpine Meadow
location of these foothills communities. Drop back to Cool on the
weekends and you will find equestrian events and bicycle touring
events to either watch or participate in yourself. While you are
waiting for your turn to begin for the event, think back about all
those incredible houses that you saw while you were driving there on
Salmon Falls Road. Talk about someone's personal dream, they are all
there to view. Spectacular, romantic, relaxed, these are all
adjectives that are used when describing the homes in Pilot Hill and
Cool. Famous for the best horseback riding trails in the US with
hundreds of miles of horse trails spread over 30,000 acres of State
Recreation and Forest Service Lands. Home of
Auburn Lake Trails and
the Western States Tevis Cup Trails. Cool, California, is one of the
last geographical areas that offers modern country living, short
commutes to business centers, great schools, and great retirement
options. Also: Folsom Lake, less than an hour away, is one of
California's most popular State Parks. 75 miles of shoreline. Boat
launching and rentals, waterskiing, fishing, windsurfing, swimming,
and more than 80 miles of hiking, bicycling, and equestrian trails.
It is about 30 minutes to Sacramento and close to Highways 80 and
50. It is about 2 hours to Reno and 2.5 hours to San Francisco. Cool
is above the fog, and below the snow. It is cooler than Sacramento
in the Summer and warmer in the winter. Great for retirement and
agriculture as there are a growing number of vineyards in the area.
The Stumpy Meadows Reservoir out of Georgetown brings the area
crystal clear drinking water and swimming, boating, and fishing fun
for the family.
You can also find mountain bike and hiking trails in nearly every
nook of this region. Also, enjoy free golfing at Auburn Lake Trails
for residents.
